COSMETIC INJECTABLES

Azzalure, Juvéderm Ultra, Restylane Lidocaine and Restylane Kysse  are cosmetic injectables that provide a natural looking way to enhance you appearance.

As well as reducing wrinkles and fine lines Azzalure, Juvéderm Ultra, Restylane Lidocaine and Restylane Kysse and dermal fillers can also be used to enhance lips and other facial features.

Botox and Fillers are the go-to beauty therapy solution for many people – and for good reason: if done right, it works brilliantly: the effects are instant, and it looks natural. Research has shown that early use of injectables can actually be a preventative measure against wrinkles because continued stress breaks down the structural integrity of the skin’s dermis.

Starting Botox® early decreases stress on the skin and therefore helps prevent wrinkles from forming.

You’re in good hands at Mint Beauty as all our cosmetic injectables are administered by Dr Joelle Williams. Book a free appearance medicine consultation at Mint Beauty  to discuss your beauty goals and receive an obligation-free quote.

PROFHILO

Profhilo treatments enable you to take on a youthful appearance, improving skin tone, texture and hydration as well as increasing firmness and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Profhilo works by stimulating the production of collagen and is a skin remodeling treatment, rather than a dermal filler. It encourages skin rejuvenation from the deep layers, right up to the surface of the skin, enabling you to take on a tighter, brighter and smoother look.

Profhilo is given as two treatments, 4 weeks apart and is a great treatment for those experiencing unwanted dull, tired skin. As we age, our skin loses an increased amount of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA). Profilo treatments help to reverse that process, resulting in a healthy, happy glow. Whilst Profhilo does not add volume like Dermal Fillers, it does hydrate the skin from within and results can be seen instantly after the second treatment. This treatment is suitable for both men and women wanting a refresh and works well with other treatments we offer.

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers about Botox

What is Botox?

Botulinum toxin (trade name Botox) is a powerful neurotoxin, which when injected into specific muscles, temporarily blocks the nerve signals to that muscle and reduces movement. Today botulinum toxin has many uses within medicine and anti-ageing, including the treatment of muscle spasms, excessive sweating and in facial muscles to reduce the appearance and onset of lines and wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin is a Prescription Only Medication (POM) and for your own safety, should only be administered by a suitable qualified medical professional.

How long does it take?

An Anti-Wrinkle Injection procedure will last no longer than 15-30 minutes.  Once the procedure is over there is no recovery time needed, with clients typically able to return to normal activities immediately. Mild redness is normal for 30-40 minutes post procedure.

How long does Botox take to work?

The effects of Botox can start to appear from the third day following injection into the specific muscles. It can take 7-14 days for the full reduction in muscle movement to occur.  Botulinum toxin results will vary between individuals, it may take more than one treatment to gain the desired results in cases of severe movement, lines or wrinkles.

How long do the results last?

Anti-Wrinkle Injections vary between individuals.  Treatments last between  3 and 5 months, with underarm treatment (for excessive sweating) lasting up to a year. It may take more than one treatment to gain the desired results in cases of severe movement, lines or wrinkles.

Which products do you use?

Dr Joelle Williams uses only the highest quality, FDA approved products, Azzalure, Juvéderm Ultra, Restylane Lidocaine and Restylane Kysse. These products ensure the safest and most effective outcomes when treating clients.

Is the treatment painful?

Any injections can hurt, however this procedure involves small needles and is relatively painless.  Some find a very mild level of discomfort.

Most frequent questions and answers about Dermal Fillers

Can I have semi-permanent make up treatment after having dermal fillers treatment?

You should wait at least a week after having had dermal fillers treatment before you have any semi-permanent make up treatments.

Can I go in the sun straight after a dermal filler treatment?

Everyday sun exposure is fine, but avoid the heat of sun beds and sunbathing for 48 hours after treatment.

Can I touch the area that’s been treated after a dermal filler treatment?

The urge to touch the newly treated area can be strong – but resist it! Touching the area freshly treated with dermal fillers carries the risk of causing an infection and inadvertently moving the soft filler to another location. It is ok to cleanse your face as you normally would, but be gentle. Always wash your hands before touching your face otherwise the bacteria can cause an unpleasant infection that will require a course of antibiotics to resolve. After 3 weeks, the filler has settle and the risk of injection is gone, so please do be patient.

Can I go swimming after a dermal filler treatment?

Wait at least 6 hours after a dermal filler treatment before going swimming to be certain that the injection points are fully healed and there is no risk of infection.

Can I go to the gym after a dermal filler treatment?

Yes, provided you avoid increasing the blood pressure to your face (e.g. by yoga or heavy physical activity). Light cardio such as treadmill exercise is actually very beneficial to the recovery process and will help you get through any bruising and swelling much more quickly. Just take it easy for the first few days!

If there is anything which is not clear, if you feel that you are getting any side effects or if you are not sure that results have come up to your expectations, do contact me and I can try to address your worries over the phone or arrange a follow up appointment.

DERMAL FILLER AFTERCARE ADVICE

Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area.  This is a normal result of the injection.  The inconvenient is temporary and generally disappears in a few days.  If it continues or if other reactions occur, please call.

Protocol for resolving bruising and swelling

  1. Hot compress: very hot water, soak clean cloth, wring out very tight, lay over the face so that the heat and steam goes to the face. Repeat several times, ideally every 2 hours if possible.
  2. Benadryl Allergy Relief (containing acrivastine): Available in Superdrug, works in 15 minutes, take as instructed.
  3. Arnica cream: Available in Superdrug, apply generously before going to bed, will help resolve bruising.

The initial swelling after lip treatment may last longer.  Some patients experience swelling for about a week and the lips can look somewhat uneven during this time.  This means that the results directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result.

Avoid touching the treatment area 6 hours after the treatment.  After that the area can be gently washed with soap  and water and light make-up can be applied.  For 24-hours no facials.

Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. solarium and sunbathing) or extreme cold.

If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores.

If you are using aspiring or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

PROFHILO AFTERCARE ADVICE

Treatment may result in some common injection-related reactions including redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising and tenderness at the implant site.  They have generally been described as mild to moderate and typically resolve spontaneously a few days after injection.  Bruising can occasionally be more significant, particularly if aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication has been taken within the last few days or there has been the consumption of alcohol. There may be visible lumps straight after treatment, these starts to disappear within a few minutes but may take a few days to clear completely.

I understand if I suffer any adverse reaction that is not expected, or concerns me, I must contact the clinic immediately. The practitioner or the clinic cannot take responsibility for complications or results that have not been reported, assessed, documented and managed when you become aware of a potential problem.
