Botox 4Anti-Wrinkle Injections for a Smooth & Refreshed Look

When life first creates visible facial lines, initially these are called dynamic lines or wrinkles that disappear when the facial muscles involved relax. Over time, however, repeated use of these muscles causes more permanent or static lines, which are visible even when you are not moving your face.

Anti-wrinkle injections, also known as Botox® injections, help to relax targeted muscles in the face by inhibiting nerve signals to them.  This reduces the muscle’s ability to contract, so that the lines and wrinkles diminish, producing a refreshed look.

Are anti-wrinkle treatments right for me?

If you are troubled by facial lines/wrinkles or just want a more rejuvenated lifted look, then anti-wrinkle injections may be perfect for you. Anti-wrinkle injections also have a multitude of other uses that you may benefit from.

How do anti-wrinkle injections work?

Anti-wrinkle injections help the muscles beneath them to relax. By inhibiting nerve signals to the specific facial muscle, this treatment prevents its ability to contract, so that over a relatively short period creases and wrinkles fade, producing a refreshed look.

What areas can be treated?Botox 6

Not only can anti-wrinkle injections help improve the appearance of wrinkles , drooping corners of the mouth and neck bands, this treatment can also help with facial slimming, teeth grinding (bruxism), migraines, gummy smile and excessive sweating (scalp, forehead, underarms, hands and feet). A lip flip is a procedure where injections are done around the mouth to relax the muscles naturally pursing the lips and give the lips a fuller appearance. Anti-wrinkle injections can also be performed in the nose to reduce flaring of the nostrils and reduce drooping  of the tip of the nose.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

Anti-wrinkle injections will typically last three to five months. However, this can depend on individual factors such as which area is being treated and how your body metabolises the anti-wrinkle protein.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Millions of people have used anti-wrinkle injections over many years, making it a very common procedure. They have been used to treat children with cerebral palsy, among other conditions such as overactive bladder. The treatment has held a proven safety record for over 30 years.

What to expect during the treatment?

Treatment involves a small number of injections in the chosen areas using a very tiny needle. The complete process takes only around 10-20 minutes to perform. The effects of your anti-wrinkle injections can begin as early as two to three days after your treatment and you can expect to see full results at 2-3 weeks. With consistent treatment, clients usually see improvement in static lines over time.

It should also be noted that deep static lines, or lines that are present at rest, may also require the use of dermal fillers, skin boosters or medical skin peels to help soften their appearance. We will discuss your own particular requirements at your consultation prior to moving forward with any treatment, to ensure you are clear about your options and your expected results.

DERMAL FILLERS

As we age, it’s natural for our skin to produce less collagen and hyaluronic acid, leading to a loss of volume in different areas of the face, causing a loose, ‘sagging’ effect. This acid is the main ingredient in the most common fillers, making the treatment simply about restoring the soft tissue’s natural composition.

Dermal fillers are injected to replace the lost volume in the face to non-surgically enhance your natural features, giving you a more youthful appearance. They can also be used to subtly contour the cheekbones, correct small or recessed chins, straighten the jawline, or even enhance the nose profile.

Filler 1Are dermal fillers right for me?

If you are concerned about lost volume in your face or want to create some contours to enhance the shape of your face – then dermal filler injections may be perfect for you. The added benefit is that it is a minimally invasive and reversible procedure.

What areas can be treated?
Common areas for treatment:

Lips, Tear trough (under-eye region), Cheeks, Nasolabial folds (smile lines), Chin, Nose, Jawline, Temple,  Marionette lines, Forehead

How long do dermal fillers last?

Dermal fillers are licensed to last up to 18 months depending on the type of filler used. Longevity also depends upon the area treated.  The less mobile the area, the longer the treatment will last.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

Dermal filler procedures are in general associated with minimal discomfort. Local anaesthetic cream is applied to the entry points used to treat the face to maximise comfort. The fillers we use also have local anaesthetic in them.

Can you wear makeup after dermal fillers?Filler 2

You will be able to apply makeup after your treatment although we recommend waiting at least 4 hours.

What to expect during the treatment?

Following an in-depth consultation to understand your objectives and ensure that all your questions/concerns are addressed, anaesthetic cream is applied to the area that will be treated. Mostly, we use a technique that utilises a cannula (a blunt ended thin ‘needle’) rather than a standard needle to administer the dermal filler into the desired areas.

This significantly reduces the amount of swelling and bruising caused so that downtime in many cases can be minimal, allowing for a lunchtime treatment with a return back to work straight after the appointment. Results after a dermal filler treatment are seen instantly making it a very popular and powerful treatment.

SCULPTRA

What Is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable biostimulator made of poly-L-lactic acid. It is used to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, which can help to restore volume and improve skin texture. Unlike traditional fillers, Sculptra works gradually, producing incredibly natural-looking results over time. Sculptra is FDA-approved and has been used for cosmetic purposes since 2004.

How Does Sculptra Biostimulator Work?  Sculptra

Sculptra works by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production process. The poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra acts as a scaffold, stimulating the growth of new collagen fibres. As the collagen grows, it fills in wrinkles and adds volume to areas that have lost their natural fullness (see image to the left depicting the skin’s structural changes before (top) and following (bottom) Sculptra).

 How Long Does Sculptra Last?

Unlike other similar injectables, results from Sculptra can last up to two years, depending on the individual and the area treated. However, it is important to note that Sculptra requires multiple treatment sessions to achieve optimal results. Patients typically require two to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart to achieve the desired effect, but because each patient has different aesthetic needs, treatment plans can vary.

What Areas Can Be Treated with Sculptra Biostimulator?

Sculptra biostimulator can be used to treat several areas of the face, including cheeks, temples, jawline, chin, nasolabial folds (smile lines) and Marionette lines.

How Long Does It Take To See Results?

Because Sculptra works gradually by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production process (unlike other fillers), it can take up to several weeks to see the full results of treatment. After the initial treatment, patients may notice some improvement in the treated areas within a couple of weeks, but the most significant improvement will typically occur several months after the final treatment session. The gradual improvement in skin texture and volume occurs as the body produces new collagen fibres, and patients may notice that their skin becomes smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking over time.

The results seen are very natural making it a popular treatment. Sculptra would be a fantastic treatment for clients wanting to restore lost volume but avoid dermal fillers.

What To Expect During and After Sculptra Treatment?

Following a consultation, the skin is anaesthetised with a topical cream. Depending on the area to be treated and patient preference, a needle technique can be used where a series of tiny injections into the skin are carried out. Alternatively, a cannula (blunt- tipped needle) can be used to administer the product through a few entry holes made in the skin. After the treatment, patients may experience some swelling and bruising, which is completely normal and usually resolves within a few hours/days. The risk of bruising and swelling is reduced with the use of a cannula.

SKIN BOOSTERS  Skin Boosters

Collagen production in our skin slows as we age, with most adults losing up to 20% of their natural collagen by the time they’re 40.
Skin boosters contain a very soft hyaluronic acid -an injectable moisturiser normally present in skin. This offers intense hydration from within the skin, along with remodelling of the tissue to rebuild collagen and combat signs of aging. Results are usually visible within a few days but realistically a course of treatments is recommended to see noticeable, long-lasting results.

Are Skin boosters right for me?

Skin Boosters or Bio-remodelling injections  provide intense hydration from within the skin along with remodelling of the soft tissue to combat aging signs.

Common areas treated are the face, neck and hands. It also great for treating superficial lines and wrinkles such as crow’s feet (around the eyes) and ‘smoker’s lines’ (around the lips).

Skin boosters are a perfect solution for those concerned with fine lines and wrinkles, loss of hydration and elasticity.

How do skin boosters work?

Skin boosting and Bio-remodelling treatments work from within the skin layers to restore hydration, improve texture and increase firmness. Natural acids attract water to improve the internal hydration levels of the skin, while also stimulating fibroblast cells to produce new collagen and elastin. Both treatments work on skin texture and fine lines, while reaching the deeper layers of the skin, helping it retain water, resulting in a plump, well-hydrated appearance.

How long do the results last?

Depending on your skin condition, age, lifestyle and use of supporting skin care, peak results are usually seen around the two month mark. It is worth noting that with some skin booster treatments, two treatments are required 4 weeks apart. The results last about 6-9 months and we generally recommend that you have a follow up treatment to maintain your results.

What to expect ?

An anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated to ensure maximum comfort. A series of tiny injections using a very thin short needle are made into the skin of the targeted area. The treatment is relatively comfortable and takes around 20-30 minutes. Some superficial blebs may be visible immediately after but tend to settle within the next few hours. As with any treatment involving injections, there is a risk of bruising and swelling – although the risk is lower than most treatments given the size of the needle and the depth being targeted. Expect to see improved hydration within 5 days and then a tighter, more radiant skin over the following weeks as the re-modelling process starts.

CHEMICAL PEELS chemical peel 2

What are Chemical Peels?

A chemical peel uses powerful active ingredients to remove dull, dry, dead skin cells and stimulate the skin cell growth cycle. Softer, smoother skin appears within days and regular peeling strengthens the outer layer of the skin, visibly improving signs of sun damage, fine lines and age spots, or more general concerns like acne, brown spots, clogged pores, melasma, freckles or hyperpigmentation.

Is a chemical skin peel right for me?

Chemical peels are a great complement to other treatments and a good skincare routine for good reason – they offer a simple, easy and needle-free way to rejuvenate the skin. There are a number of types of peels to address various skin concerns but they all essentially slough off tired, dull skin cells to stimulate fresh healthy skin, allowing for accelerated cell turnover and the stimulation of collagen-making cells. The outcome is glowing, healthy skin.

When will I see results?

Following our most popular medium depth chemical peel – the ZO 3 step Peel – clients experience peeling of the skin from about Day 3 to Day 5 making way for the new skin underneath to come through. The real results though come when that new skin is fully healed – usually at about two weeks. This timing, and the extent to which peeling occurs, depends on your skin and the peel you’ve selected alongside our advice on what would work best for you. Dr Joelle will guide you through everything you need to know.

What areas can be treated?chemical peel 1

Medical skin peels are most commonly applied to the face, but the neck, chest, back, arms and legs are also all possible to be treated. However, you should not peel more than a small percentage of the body at one time to avoid any potential complications, and it’s important to be aware that desired results are not as predictable in non-facial areas.

What to expect during a chemical peel treatment?

After an in-depth skin consultation and a specific peel is recommended, your skin will be cleansed with both a cleanser and an alcohol solution to ensure the peel penetrates the skin evenly.

The chemical peel solution is then applied; during this process, you may feel a stinging and warm sensation. A fan will be directed over your skin to ensure comfort.  For several days after, your skin may feel tight and you may experience redness, which is a completely normal indication your skin has kickstarted the regeneration process.

For a lighter peel, the actual peeling effects may be microscopic and so won’t be visible to the naked eye. For deeper peels, 2-5 days may elapse before peeling commences, which can last usually up to a week, after which the softer, smoother skin starts coming through. It’s important to avoid excessive sun exposure for 4-8 weeks after a medical peel. During this transformation period, we’ll also recommend a skincare regime to elevate and maintain the results of your peel.
